Get Your Sunlight Fix!
From the ancient Egyptians to the modern-day person, humans have long sought out sunlight for its healing powers. As it turns out, there’s more than just a metaphysical benefit—studies have found that exposure to morning sunlight can actually improve physical health and mental wellbeing - Morning sunlight is one of the best free medicines available.
The Benefits of Sunlight
Sunlight has been used to treat ailments from depression to lethargy for centuries. Now, science is beginning to understand why this works. Sunlight helps your body produce Vitamin D which helps regulate hormones, strengthen bones, and boost your immune system. In fact, studies show that people who are low in Vitamin D are more prone to fatigue and depression–just two of the many factors that can be improved with a bit of sunshine each day.
Another way sunlight can benefit your health is by helping you get better sleep at night. Early morning light helps reset your internal clock so you wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead rather than groggy or sluggish after a restless night’s sleep - Count us in!
Finally, early morning light may also help improve your mood throughout the day. Studies suggest that exposure to natural light in the early hours helps reduce stress levels and boosts serotonin production—a neurotransmitter associated with feelings of joy and pleasure. All of this adds up to an overall healthier state of mind that will help you stay productive throughout the day.
It goes without saying please always check the UV index and wear sunscreen whenever you’re planning on spending periods of time in the sun! We would hate for you to get sunburnt.
